Directions, Parking, Accessibilty
From Oakland and South Berkeley streets:
- Take Shattuck Avenue north until you reach Durant Avenue.
- Turn right onto Durant Avenue.
- Go two blocks to Ellsworth Street.
- Cross Ellsworth Street and turn IMMEDIATELY left into our parking garage.
- Stairs from parking garage go up to courtyard. There is also an elevator.
From North Berkeley streets:
- Take Shattuck Avenue or Oxford Avenue South until you reach Durant Avenue.
- Turn left onto Durant Avenue.
- Go two blocks to Ellsworth Street.
- Cross Ellsworth Street and turn IMMEDIATELY left into our parking garage.
- Stairs from parking garage go up to courtyard.
From Highway 80/580
- Take the University Avenue Exit.
- Follow University Avenue toward the Berkeley Hills.
- Turn right on Oxford Avenue.
- Turn left onto Durant Avenue.
- Go one block to Ellsworth Street.
- Cross Ellsworth Street and turn IMMEDIATELY left into our parking garage.
- Stairs from parking garage go up to courtyard.
Mass Transit
Alameda County Buses
Saint Mark's is served by the AC Transit buses on the following routes: 7, 40, 40L, 51, 51A, 51M, 64.
BART trains
Take BART to the Downtown Berkeley Exit. Ascend to the street. Walk south on Shattuck Avenue to the corner of Bancroft Way. Turn left and walk two blocks toward the Berkeley Hills. St. Mark's is on the corner of Bancroft Way and Ellsworth Street.
Parking
Free parking is available in the St. Mark’s garage (entrance on Durant immediately east of Ellsworth) until 1 pm Sundays (and on Evensong and other special services and events). There is additional free parking on Sunday mornings directly across Durant by the dental office buildings. The formerly free-on-Sunday-mornings University of California lot under the Recreational Sports Facility on Bancroft Way, across the street from the church, now charges $1/hr. Street parking is usually available on Sunday morning (2 hour or metered other times).
Accessibility
All of Saint Mark's public areas are accessible. There are two access ramps from Bancroft Way on the north side of the church into the Parish House (church office and library) and into our worship spaces (chapel and nave). There is elevator access from the parking lot to the patio, Parish House (church office and library), and the upstairs parish hall. A wheelchair lift in the chapel provides access to the altar area inside the church. Accessible bathrooms are in the Parish House and in Hodgkin Hall (south side of the patio).
