Prayer Shawl Ministry
|
| "Offering a little comfort and warmth for those in need of a lot of prayer and love," the Prayer Shawl Ministry is an ecumenical ministry based in prayer and creativity. Started in 1998 by Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, the ministry centers around creating shawls or scarves either by knitting, crocheting, sewing and weaving. The creation begins with prayer for the person or person(s) and the prayer is continued throughout the project. The shawl/scarf is then presented with prayer and a blessing may be given. The shawls and scarves are to be given freely, not sold, and the garments can be for any occasion, not only for healing. If you're interested in being a part of the St. Mark's Group, contact Rev. Ellen Ekstrom, at ellen@stmarksberkeley.org, or (510) 847-6509. To learn more about the founding ministry, go to: http://shawlministry.com. |
